How we rank Tampa landscaping companies

Current status: scores are assigned from each company's public website information (reviewed 2026-06-10) and have not been independently verified. The rankings stay unindexed until a human verifies license, insurance, and current details, then signs off.

The editorial score

Every company is scored 1–5 on five criteria. Each criterion is weighted, and the weighted result is scaled to a 0–100 editorial score. Companies are ranked by that score, highest first (ties break alphabetically). The criteria measure service substance — not whether a business paid us or filled out a profile — so payment can't buy a higher rank.

Editorial score = (Σ criterion score × weight) × 20, giving a 0–100 result.

Payment never affects rank

Rank is set by the editorial score alone. A sponsored placement buys a label and added visibility — never a higher position. You can see this in the ranking itself: editorial (free) profiles outrank sponsored ones whenever they score higher. None of the scoring criteria reward paying or having a more complete profile.

How profiles are compiled

We compile profiles of landscaping companies serving the Tampa area from publicly available information — company websites, public listings, and service descriptions — and summarize services, areas served, and practical considerations a homeowner should check.

Sponsored and enhanced profiles

• Editorial profiles are compiled by the guide and are free to the business.
• Enhanced profiles let a business provide or verify its own details. The verified details don't change the score.
• Sponsored placements are paid, clearly labeled everywhere, and do not change rank.

Updates, ties, and how the order changes

Profiles and scores are reviewed on a recurring basis and stamped with a "last reviewed" date. Because rank is computed directly from the editorial score, any verified change to a score recalculates the order automatically — there is no manual re-ordering. Ties on the same score are broken alphabetically by company name, so the order is reproducible. Anyone — including the business — can request a correction via our contact page, or claim and update a profile at claim your profile.

What we will not do

• We don't let payment change a company's rank or our wording.
• We don't guarantee outcomes, quality, or pricing — those vary by company and project.
